4 min., 2002 In The Hunter's Guide to Bereavement, it remains unclear whether or not the character is responsible for the death of a horse. Nonetheless, she assumes the role of the hunter and suffers the consequential guilt, illustrating her despair by attempting- with futility- to revive the animal with resuscitation, and to hide it's body beneath the couch cushions. She dispenses her own advice, telling herself, in a military fashion, that she is "naturally resilient", and that she will resolve her grief "without prolonged difficulty". She dances and tries to maintain a smile, even though her face and hands are covered in blood. |
